Question:

Hello,I am an insurance broker and a friend called me as he has a niece here from India on a student F1 Visa. A few questions:1) Does the premium payment have to be paid up front?2) What doctor network do you use and how does someone find a doctor?3) If I read it correctly, pre-existing conditions are not covered. For how long? Thank you,Leslie

Answer:

Thank you for contacting Insubuy. In most International Student Insurance Plans, the premium can be paid on a monthly basis. The ExchangeGuard plan will require to you pay for the duration the insured would like up front, but the plans are extendable. So they may initially purchase for any duration, and then extend the coverage month by month as they continue their studies in the United States.

Most of the plans will use the United Healthcare PPO Network, and you may use the provider directory to search for medical providers in your area.

Many of the International Student Insurance plans will provide coverage for pre-existing conditions after the plan has been in force at least 6 or 12 months. The coverage amount after the waiting period will depend on the plan you select.
