Question:

My wife and I are US Citizens currently living in Australia. Our ages are 65 and 61 respectively. We plan to return to the US in March 2018 for a period of time that could range from 3 months to up to one year. We may visit several states during our stay. Would you be able to provide guidance as to what Health Insurance plans would be available and suitable for us to ensure adequate coverage for the duration of our stay in the US? I do have Medicare Part A coverage.

Answer:

As United States citizens the plan available to you will be based upon the amount of time in which you will be staying in the United States. If coming for a visit there are some plans available to you called Diplomat America as long as you plan to return to your home country outside of the United States. This plan will cover any new accidents or new illness that happen after the effective date of the policy.

If you are planning to stay for a year it is recommended that you look into domestic insurance options as a U.S. citizen. For more information on coverage for US citizens visiting the USA please review the FAQ listed below.
