Hi, I am a Canadian Citizen and I am soon moving to the US for an employment opportunity. My employer will provide me a health care plan but I need a temporary health insurance to bridge the gap between the day I arrive in the US and the day I start my job 1-2 weeks and get my employer's health care plan. What type of insurance is suitable for that purpose? I first thought that I could take a visitor medical insurance but your website tells me that I cannot take such an insurance if I am resident of the US which I am not at the moment but I will be resident of the US for the duration of the insurance that I want to purchase as I will be moving to the US. Many thanks for your help
If you are awaiting employer insurance you can purchase a plan called Atlas America.
This plan will cover any new accidents and new illnesses that happen after the effective date of the policy.
This plan will have to be purchased when you arrive into the United States. It cannot be purchased if you are locate in Canada at the time of application.
