I am looking for temporary health insurance for immigrants in the US. Currently, I am in the process of emigrating from Germany to the US. Could you please suggest a health insurance plan, which is appropriate for my situation? Here is a short summary my situation: - German citizen with last place of residence in Germany - Now living in the U.S. - Arrived in the U.S. on May 28th with ESTA/Visa Waiver program - Currently still a tourist in the US until August 25th - Married to a US citizen since August 10th - Starting August 26th, open-ended stay in the US (marriage-based Greencard application with Change of Status to Immigrant Status -> not a permanent resident of the U.S. yet and still have a Non-Immigrant Status) - No further journeys back to Germany planed in the future - It is going to take about 8-12 months to receive my US work permit - Hence cannot work in the US for the next 8-12 months - Going to switch to a US health insurance in about 8-12 months (once I am allowed to start working) - Need a temporary health insurance for the US for about 8-12 months until immigration process (Greencard, work permit, etc.) is done Could you please confirm which health insurance policy is eligible for me and my situation?
Here is a link to a couple of plans that would work. The Safe Travels USA Comprehensive is available until you are approved for the Green card. The International Major Medical is available even after the Green card is approved but has limits on how long it can be purchased for.
