Question:

J1 and J2 maternity insurance I am going to join at University of Illinois (UIUC) from March 2016 with J1 visa as a postdoctoral research associate position. My wife and Son will accompanied me with J2 visa. We can stay in USA for two years. Right now my wife has got pregnancy. I had talk with several of my friends living in US. Someone said delivery of baby in US is free and other said its quite expensive which is difficult to pay without insurance. In this connection I like to take family insurance including maternal coverage from your company. In this regard I solicit your kind help and advice. Actually you know Bangladesh is a poor country and its not possible for me to cover the maternal expenses. Does your company has any suitable plan for the students especially from Bangladesh? Any feedback would be appreciated highly.

Answer:

Thank you for contacting Insubuy for your insurance needs. In order for us to recommend the appropriate plan we will need more information. Does your University have any specific requirements? If so, please send us your requirements as a PDF attachment. You may also receive a plan recommendation over the phone by contacting our office at (866) INSUBUY. If you have any additional questions please let us know.

Thank you for your kind reply. The university of Illinois does not recommend me for any specific requirements regarding insurance. As per Univ. policy the J1 visa holder cannot eligible to get benefit from them. They suggested to purchase any pack suitable for me and my family. My plan to go USA on 5 march, 2016 and my family will accompanied me. So I have to fix health insurance plan before departure Bangladesh. In this connection I solicit your kind help. I would appreciate your kind help and cooperation in this issue. Thanking you again and looking forward to hear from you.

Insurance will not pay for any expense related to your wife’s pregnancy. There is no insurance which covers pregnancy if she is already pregnant. You have to pay from your pocket. You can purchase either Inbound Immigrant- Fixed coverage plan or Patriot Exchange – Comprehensive coverage plan for new sickness, injuries or accidents that may occur after the insurance eff. date.
