Question:

Pregnancy complication insurance: US citizen living abroad Hello, I'm a US citizen, living in Argentina and planning a trip back to the US at the end of this month. I'm pregnant and looking for a plan that will cover unexpected medical emergencies (NOT to give birth in the US). My trip is planned for dates that are between week 24 and 27 of my pregnancy (date based on beginning of my last menstrual cycle). Can you tell me what plan might work for me and details on cost, benefits, etc., please? Thank you.

Answer:

Thank you for contacting Insubuy for your insurance needs. There is a plan called Safe Travels USA Cost Saver that is available to a U.S. Citizen visiting within the United States. This plan will cover any new accidents and new illnesses that occur after the effective date of the policy. This plan will also offer coverage for pregnancy complications, This benefit will be in the amount of $1,000 per policy period. Please read the FAQ for more information about pregnancy complications. See the link listed below to the plan and to generate a quote. Please feel free to contact our office for further assistance. Thank you very much for your reply. I'm wondering if I can only go to certain health care providers. I'm planning on visiting Jackson Hole, Wyoming and the Delta County area in Colorado. Can you tell me whether it would be easy for me to find providers that are eligible in these areas? And, what happens if there aren't providers recognized by Insubuy where I'm traveling?

The Safe Travels USA Cost Saver plan is available anywhere outside of your home country. The plan will cover you anywhere in the United States. The Coventry / First Health PPO network is a very large network that generally has providers all over the US, you can do a search for providers here /safe-travels-ppo-network/ . If you are unable to find a provider then the plan will still pay 80% up to the first $5000 then 100% to the policy max. You will still be covered in or out of the network for any new illness or injury that occurs after the effective date of the policy.
