I'm exploring medical insurance for my son and his wife and 7 children, who are citizens and residents of the UK. They are staying in Redding in California, on a student Visa M1 for my son (and M2 for the others) until end of May next year. We are looking for basic all round medical insurance for the whole family for this period. All the family are healthy and well with no known conditions, except for one 9 year old child. She had a successful operation as a baby to fix a 'hole in the heart'. Yes, there are plans available which will provide coverage to individuals on an M1/M2 visa. Before purchasing you may want to verify the plan will meet the University requirements if there are any specific requirements.
Most plans will plans will not provide coverage for a pre-existing condition until the policy has been in force for either 6 or 12 months. Unfortunately, there is no plan available which will provide coverage for a pre-existing condition immediately after the effective date.
