New Immigrant Insurance

Question:

I am an international student here in the US and currently on OPT. My OPT will end on February 16, 2018. I am looking at ExchangeGuard insurance option in your website. My question is 1. Will this cover F1 student in OPT? 2. After my OPT, probably I will change my status to F2 dependent, what will happen to my insurance if that happen? 3. If I apply to permanent resident, will it cover during my application on pending (because it will take at least 1 year to approve)? 4. Can I add my US born child under my policy?

Answer:

ExchangeGuard can cover an F2 visa holder. However, if you apply for permanent residency, it will no longer cover you, beginning with the date you file for adjustment of status.

If you do file for permanent residency, you can contact our office and we can go over other plan options for that status here in the U.S.

There is not going to be a plan that will cover a U.S. citizen living here. Your child would be eligible for domestic insurance here in the United States as a U.S. citizen residing here.
