International Student Insurance

Question:

Student Insurance Pre-Existing Conditions Hi, I'm an international student who planned on studying in the USA (Florida), starting my freshman year of college this July. I have type 1 Diabetes, therefore I need things such as insulin, needles, test strips, etc. in order to treat my medical condition. What plan would you suggest me if I wanted to spend as less as possible in prescriptions? How much is it going to cost me monthly?

Answer:

Hello, Thank you for contacting Insubuy for your insurance needs. Are there any requirements that your University has that need to met as far as the insurance is concerned? Typically there is a waiting period before any pre-existing conditions will be considered and these waiting periods can be anywhere from 6-12 months depending upon the plan selected. If there are domestic coverage options offered from your University, it is recommended that you purchase the domestic options as it is the only type of plan that will start covering pre-existing conditions from day 1.
