Question:

My name is Balazs, I am an international exchange student (scholar) at the University of Georgia for the 2017/2018 academic year. For international students it compulsory to purchase an insurance plan. I found on your website that you offer insurance for exchange students, however, I am not sure whether if it meets the minimum requirements. I contacted the university and they advised me to contact you in mail. I copy the answer I received from the university: " You need to contact the insurance company to confirm the above items are covered under the plan. You also need to confirm that the plan provides you with world-wide coverage. I recommend that you send them the list of the minimum requirements for a waiver. These are: International Students in the F1 and J1 student statuses must have a minimum of the following benefits: - Both accident and sickness coverage - Minimum benefit of $250,000 per policy year ** - A deductible of $500 or less and/or co-pay per individual, per year * - In-patient and outpatient, mental and nervous disorder benefits - Prescription drug coverage - Pay benefits worldwide - Medical evacuation to one's home country and family reunification of not less than $50,000 * - Provision for repatriation of remains of not less than $25,000 * - All Georgia mandated requirements + - International students and scholars, and any accompanying spouse and dependent(s), may be subject to the requirements of the Affordable Care Act. *Federal Standards required for International Students **To meet Federal Affordable Care Act (ACA) requirements your health plan should have no annual benefit Limits. (These requirements are based on the federally mandated requirements of the ACA.) +Georgia mandates coverage for the following benefits to be paid as any other Sickness: Mammography, PAP Smears, Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) Tests, Chlamydia Screening, Mastectomy, Bone Mass Measurement, Colorectal Cancer Screening, Dental Anesthesia, Diabetes, Surveillance Tests for Ovarian Cancer, Telemedicine, Drug Treatment of Children's Cancer, Bone Marrow Transplants, Postpartum Care, and Mental Illness. I would recommend that you request a detailed policy brochure so you can review the exclusions and limitations." Could you please help me with this, that is let me know whether any of your offered insurance meets these requirements or not?

Answer:

Since your university requires a domestic plan then the only way to meet their requirements is to purchase the plan that they offer.

There is no plan that you can purchase on the market that will meet the requirements as listed. If you have additional questions please feel free to contact our office.
