Exchange Visitors

UW-Milwaukee, Waukesha requires J-1 scholars and exchange students to have health insurance coverage that meets or exceeds the U.S. Department of State standard requirements. The plan must also include a benefit of a co-insurance no more than 25% of the covered benefits per accident or illness for the entire stay in the U.S.

International Students

All F-1 international students are automatically enrolled in the school’s insurance plan. They may not purchase an alternate plan. They may only waive enrollment in the university plan if they receive insurance coverage through a U.S.-based employer.
