Health Risks for Northwest Nazarene University International Students

Idaho has lower crime rates (2.3 per 1,000 people) than most states of the U.S. (3.7 per 1,000 people is the U.S. average). Some of its cities, including Nampa, boast of minimal crimes on a daily basis. Violent crimes are also minimal. However, petty theft and other forms of property crime are areas of concern.

International students should exercise caution until they’re familiar with the area, and they should avoid unfamiliar locations after sundown to avoid the chance of any unwanted situations.

While Idaho is a relatively safe place to live while you study, there is still concern of natural disasters that could occur, like wildfires or floods. Winters can be cold, too, so you will need to pack accordingly or plan to purchase appropriate attire when you get there. As always, you’ll need to be prepared for the eventual sicknesses or injuries that could occur.
