Question:

New insurance after 2 months Can I buy new insurance, i mean different type of insurance, after 3 months of my parents stay here. For example, I want to take Visitor Care for the first 2 months, then Atlas america for the remaining 4 months. I also saw in some links here, that visitor insurance has to taken within 30 days of arrival within USA and cannot taken after that. Pls clarify this. Thanks.

Answer:

2. Your understanding is not completely correct. For IMG plans (Visitors Care, Patriot America, Protection America etc.), if the person is 65 years of age or over, you must buy the insurance within first 30 days of arrival in the US or must have prior valid international insurance. In other words, 65 and above people should not be without insurance in the US for 30 days or more in order to be able to buy any of those plans. 1. You could certainly do that but it is not recommended. If you buy a cheaper plan earlier and if something happens later and if you realize that the fixed coverage plan is not enough, it would be too late to buy the comprehensive coverage plan. Whatever problem the person already has would be considered as pre-existing condition in the new plan and not covered. Therefore, it is very important to buy the plan that you like initially itself and stick with it for the entire duration. And of course, we always recommend everyone to buy comprehensive plans only. I hope that answers your questions. If you have any furhter questions, please feel free to post them here or contact us at any time.
