When a business is PCI-compliant, it means that that the business reviews and follows the guidelines set forth by the credit card companies to help ensure your credit card information is protected and your personal information is secure.
Atlas vs Patriot Hi, My parents are going to US for 6 months. I'm going to buy a comprehensive insurance for them from either Atlas or Patriot. After comparison, I still have some questions. 1. For Hospital emergency room (all expenses incurred therein), the comparisons between the two show as below: Atlas:to policy maximum. If subsequently not admitted for further treatment of sickness. treatment is covered, but room charges not covered. Patriot: to policy maximum. Extra $250 deductible/visit is ER visit for a sickness (not injury/accident) does not result in direct hospital admission. For Atlas, does it mean that in the case of hospital emergency room occupation without admission subsequently, I need to pay for the room charges by myself? what's the common price range for such room charges? I also checked the Atlas exclusions, it lists " charges for use of emergency room within the US for treatment of illness unless the patient is directly admitted to the hospital as inpatient for further treatment of that illness (does not apply to injuries)". I feel so confused for Atlas. Does it mean all of the charges (treatment + room charges + other fares) for use of emergency room are excluded unless the patient is directly admitted? or the treatment is covered but the room charges not covered? 2. Co-insurance: Atlas: In U.S./Canada: After deducible, you pay 20% of the first $5000 in covered expenses, rest covered at 100% up to selected policy maximum. Coinsurance waived if expenses are incurred within PPO provider bills directly to Underwriter. For example, I searched the health Care Provider on the website of first health PPO within US which is the provider for Atlas. I found the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center is listed there. But it only means the hospital accepts the First Health network. How can I make sure whether that hospital can bill directly to Underwriter? 3. Hospital room and board including miscellaneous: Atlas: To policy maximum, average semi-private room rate, including nursing services Patriot: To policy maximum, average semi-private room. How about the fares for nursing services for Patriot? Thanks!
1. In both the plans, emergency room visit for the sickness works out to be very similar in the most cases. I recommend that you read the section about emergency room at /what-is-visitors-insurance/ It explains this matter in detail. If you still have further questions, please post them here and we would be glad to answer them all. 2. You can search for providers in the PPO network for Atlas plan at /travel-and-student-insurance-ppo-network/ Most providers in the PPO network would directly bill the insurance company. That is why there are there in the network. In about 10 years, I have never heard about any hospital in the U.S. not billing directly. (Not just Atlas plan, but all the plans we sell.) In rare cases, some doctor somewhere (who is in PPO network) may choose not to bill directly, mostly because of lack of understanding of a new receptionist, for example or just for some random unjustified reason. Again that happens rarely in case of PPO plans (which most of the comprehensive plans are). If it does happen, please let us know and we (or PPO) will contact them to clear up any misunderstanding or doubts that they might have. 3. Both plans provide the same coverage in that aspect. It is just that these two plans are from two different companies, developed them mostly indepdently from each other and therefore, there may be some difference in the language. I hope that answers your questions. You can buy either of the plans online at our web site at https://www.insubuy.com If you have any other questions, please feel free to post them here or contact us at any time.
Hi Thanks very much for your quick reply! I now understand the policies about the emergency room issues. Another thing is that I tried to figure out if the UCLA Medical Center is a eligible provider within Atlas network. I searched from /travel-and-student-insurance-ppo-network/. When select Provider Type: General Acute Care Hospital, Facility Name: UCLA, Zip Code: 90095, Distance: within 5 Mile. Two results show as Ronald Reagan and Santa Monica UCLA medical center. However when the Provider Type is changed to Emergency care, and Facility Name left blank, the other options keep the same. The two UCLA centers are not on the list. Does it mean that UCLA medical center is not within the Atlas network when dealing in Emergency Cares? Thanks very much!
If the hospital is in the network and they have emergency room, that is also in the network. The reason it may not show up in one vs other category is simply because finally it is a database with categories and whichever way the data entry was done and the category was assigned is how the search results are displayed.
