Atlas America - Medical Insurance I would like to buy Atlas America Medical Insurance for my parents who’s planned to be US for 6 months. I have few clarification, could you please let me know. Information: Travelers Age: 61 (Primary), 66 (Spouse) Travel Start Date: 04/10 Travel End Date (Planned): 10/09 Travel From: India Travel to: USA, Washington Clarifications: 1. Can I buy Atlas America while am in WA and my parents are in India? From FAQ it looks like Yes, but want to confirm. 2. If I extend the medical insurance while my parents are in Oregon, what kind of proof do I need to keep? 3. Let’s say I make a claim and then cancel the policy one month prior to planned end date â€" What would be the impact on the prorate refund? 4. My mom had open heart surgery 3 years back and she takes prescribed medicines regularly. a) If she gets a heart attack will that be considered as “Acute on-set of pre-existing conditionâ€�? b) If US Doctor prescribe a change in her regular medicine will the same be covered? 5. Do you any other suggestion or Atlas America is preferred considering the age of my mom and pre-existing condition?

Thank you for your interest in purchasing insurance through us. Answer for your questions below: 1. Yes. You can purchase Atlas America plan for them before their arrival in WA state. If they are coming on 04/10. Start coverage from apr 9th and purchase insurance for 3m then renew for rest of the duration. 2. Yes. You can renew the policy no matter which state they are in. You have to renew the policy before it expires. Coverage expires by 12:01 AM EST. 3. Refund policy is that there will be $25 cancellation fees and rest pro-rated premium you will get refund as long as there is no claim has been filed since the original effective date. 4. a. Insurance will not pay for any routine maintenance for the pre-existing conditions. Covers only acute onset of pre-ex. Atlas will provide you the most amount of coverage for acute onset of pre-ex for age 65+.
