Question:

Visiting US and playing hockey Hi, my son is going to Florida to play junior ice hockey from the 1st August 2014 to 1st April 2015. He is English and he needs a good health insurance to cover him while he's in America, and it also has to be suitable for ice hockey because it's a rough sport and he's bound to need medical treatment for injuries sustained while he's playing. He had asthma when he was little but he hasn't had it for at least 3 years, and he's 18 years old. Can you recommend an insurance to meet his requirements because I don't really know what I'm doing and I can't find an insurance that covers ice hockey. Kind Regards

Answer:

Is he playing on a professional level? Any organized tournament? Does he get paid anything such as reward or price?

This is not a professional team. It is a Junior team sanctioned by the USA Hockey national governing body. This is a ‘pay-to-play’ league where he is obviously paying to be part of this team. We play in the USPHL Empire league and play league games and showcase/league events for our game schedule. There are no payments, prizes or otherwise for players. They can refer to these websites for more info. Let me know if you need anything further.

Unfortunately, we don’t have any plan that would cover that.
