Question:

Patriot America for parent aged 70+ Hi, I am planning to buy Patriot America comprehensive insurance for my parents who are coming in Dec 09. My father is 71 and mother is 64. Your website says that for insurer aged 70+ a separate application has to be made. Why is that? If I do that then won't my parents have separate applications and considered as separately insured with different policy numbers? Won't that be a problem when filing for claims? Also if I had to renew their insurance I would have to pay $5 for each of them? Jayeeta

Answer:

The reason for separate application for 70+ is that only $50,000 policy max is allowed for 70+, while you can buy anywhere from $50,000 to $1,000,000 for age below 70. Separate applications is absolutely no problem. In fact, even if you were able to do it together, we recommend that you do separately because you get more flexibility in terms of renewals, cancellation etc. Otherwise, they would be stuck together. Yes, you would have to pay $5 for each application renewal. Howver, that fee is waived if you renew for 1 month or more.
