Question:

overseas health insurance sir, we are coming to USA on 21st May 2011 and our return flight is on 13th june (total 26 days back to India) for conference at harvard and tourism. We will be covering new york/ new jersey, DC, Niagra falls, boston & california state etc.. So please guide us what will be the best and economical health insurance plan for all of us. Will it cover cashless hospitalization, OPD / medical test expenses etc. What other benefits it offer. My family details are Female 37 yr Male 43 yr Female -12 yr Female - 12 yr We dont have any pre-existing illness as we know, do your policy also covers any pre existing illness. Please give us a quote and how it is better to have health insurance from Insubuy rather than having health insurance from indian insutrance companies. Regards

Answer:

Hello, What visa will you be here on?

Dear Sir Thanx for the quote. We will travelling on B1/ B2 Visa. Can we limit the mandatory deductions to 100US$ instead of 250US$ in our policy. Please also clarify whether Atlas insurance covers outpatient treatment facility for minor illness in US such as fever, stomach infection etc and how much amount we have to bear of the total cost of OPD treatment. As ICICI lombard general insurance in india which has a tie up with United Health Insurance of US settles OPD claims (refunds) after submitting bills in India and we have to make all the payments for OPD treatment from our own pocket. How Atlas insurance is different. Regards

1. Yes. You can certainly get $100 deductible instead of $250 deductible. The price for $100 deductble is 10% higher compared to the price for $250 deductible. 2. For both outpatient as well as inpatient treatment, Atlas America participates in First Health and PHCS PPO network. You get the insurance card that will display those PPO network. You just take that insurance card to the doctor or the hospital and they can bill directly. Therefore, it is beneficial to buy Atlas America plan, available at /atlasamerica-insurance/ Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Thanx Some more queries 1. Can we get 0% deductible in our insurance policy 2. At Disneyland (on rides) or any other such park if kids or we get hurt then will it be covered under same policy or it comes under adventorous sports and we had to add sports rider in our policy 3. Would it be 100% insurance coverage or 80:20. Is this 80:20 coverage compulsory initially or can we go for 100% coverage 4. Would we be giving our Indian mailing address for the papers to deliver or what. We will be going on 21st May. 5. We will first go to New Jersey, then to DC, Niagra falls, then New York, then Boston, then Los Angeles, San Jose etc. Will Atlas Insurance covers all. Please clarify.

1. Yes, you can. 2. Regular rides are not excluded and you don't need sports rider for that. To be more precise, please look at /atlas-america/visitor-medical-insurance/ The activities listed under the exclusions section are the ones that are excluded. In order to cover those adventure sports, you will need to get sports rider. 3. Look at the heading section of /atlas-america/visitors-insurance/ 4. Yes, you can do that. 5. Yes, it does. I hope that answers all of your questions. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact us at any time. Otherwise, you can purchase it online at /atlasamerica-insurance/

thanx I have only one concern that is 80:20. Your policy says if the provider bills the insurance company directly it will pay 100% otherwise insurance company pays 80%. I am not able to understand that. When will the provider bill the insurance company directly and when not. What can we do so that the provider bills the insurance company directly. My concern is if we have our travel insurance from ICICI lombard from India which has a tie up with United Health Insurance of US, all hospital treatment is cashless and then we can get all the OPD expenses refunded when we come back and submit bills, but here 20% will go from our pocket. Example, if by any chance during an inpatient treatment at Hospital the bill comes to 5000$ or 10000$ then 1000$ or 2000$ will have to be borne by me that is 45000 INR or 90000 INR which is substantial sum and i wont get any refund. Same is the case with OPD treatment. Hope you can understand. Please clarify. Regards

Atlsa America participates in First Health and PHCS PPO networks. When you go to the providers in that network, they can bill directly. You can find the list of providers in the network at /travel-and-student-insurance-ppo-network/ You can find more information at /what-is-visitors-insurance/ I have never seen any hospital not billing the insurance company directly for those who have purchased Atlas America. Therefore, you need not worry about paying thousands of dollars out of your pocket. Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Sir I tried to find the list of providers and it showed some CMN network. On clicking search providers, there is a search screen to search doctors in a particular area. I tried to search for physician in new york area but it showed 0 results, then i tried california, again it showed 0 results. Further, there is something like network negotiated fee whats that. Please clarify. Further, also clarify whether this will be a comprehensive policy or a fixed policy. Moreover, please guide is it better to take individual policy of myself and individual policy for my spouse and children or a single one for all 4 of us. As they say if u take combined policy then if any family member uses it first then the other person covered in the policy cant use it. Regards

1. That is not possible. There are thousands of providers both in CA and NY. Please tell me EXACTLY the criteria you selected so that it may help me find out what you might be doing incorrectly. 2. When you go to the providers in the PPO network, they charge the fees that are negotiated between the provider and the insurance company, rather than randomly charging whatever they wish to. 3. Atlas America is a comprehensive coverage plan. 4. It is better to add the dependent children in the same policy as the parents as, for every parent insured, one dependent child under the age of 9 is free. In any case, dependent child rates are lower than child alone rates. 5. That's not true. The coverage is available for each person insured in the policy, irrespective of whether you take combined or separate. One insured claiming the insurance now does not prevent any eligible claims for another insured later. Please let me knwo if you have any other questions.

Sir, Ok thanx i was able to open the list of doctors. Regarding your answer to point no. 2 do the fees charged by the providers in the PPO network have to be paid by us or are cashless in OPD treatment. Please clarify. Regards

Cashless in OPD treatment in network.
