Help regarding insurance for blood cancer patient This is Nitish from India. My elder brother is afflicted with blood cancer (B-cell ALL) and it was diagnosed on 6th of February, 2014. Currently he is undergoing chemotherapy and radiotherapy in AIIMS, India, for last 10 months. From next month for two years, he will be under 'Maintenance' period. Dr. A Ganguly (Consultant in AIIMS) told us that he can be cured in US through iPSC (immuno-pluripotent Stem Cell therapy). He also told us that we may need insurance cover upto Rs 1 crore. He told us few names of medical center in US which does this therapy such as Cleveland Clinic, Anderson Cancer Center etc. Does some insurance companies has tie up too with any of such medical centers ? We don't have any relatives in US. Kindly guide us about which insurance to buy so that we can cover most of the expenses there. (Medical + Boarding + Lodging + Travel) As cancer is already diagnosed, which insurance can we buy given that there are chances of relapses in blood cancer ? Will passport number be required for buying insurance policy ? Looking forward to your guidance.
