Question:

General Coverage Questions I'm looking into getting insurance for my mom and I'm hoping you can clarify a few things for me: 1. With comprehensive coverage (Patriot America Plus, Liaison Continent A) -- does this cover mammography? What is the "preventive screening" coverage? 2. I'll probably paying and renewing the insurance month to month. If, for example I start of with Liaison Continent A, then when it expires, I decide to go to Patriot America Plus, how does that work? What is the process? 3. Does comprehensive coverage covers the entire US and then travels (except for restricted countries listed)? 4. If the application had breast cancer before and has been in remission for about 8 years, I understand that no longer qualifies as a pre-existing condition, right? I'd greatly appreciate your prompt response.

Answer:

1. Mammography would not be covered as the plan does not cover preventative care as this considered to be a preventative service which would not be covered under the policy. Preventative Screening is any service that is done such as a routine checkup or a women’s annual that should typically be done in the home country. 2. Once a plan is active is it recommended to continue with that plan throughout the duration of the stay. As purchasing a new plan would be new and anything that happens before the effective date of the new policy would not be covered to include any injured or illness that may have occurred under your previous policy. 3. Yes, the plans will cover anywhere outside of the home country or country of citizenship and during travel. 4. This would still be considered a pre-existing condition the plans have specific exclusions for cancer. If you have any further questions please feel free to contact our office.

Thank you for your response. I just have a few follow up questions -- 1. Do you have a recommended insurance plan which will cover preventive exams? 2. What coverage is available for cancer? Please advise.

Thank you for contacting Insubuy. Unfortunately, there are no plans on the market for a visitor to cover any pre-existing conditions or preventative care. If a non U.S. resident or citizen wishes to receive any treatment for a pre-existing condition or have preventative checkups this is an expense that would be solely out of pocket. If you need any further assistance please feel free to contact our office. Please review the link to a helpful FAQ that may assist with any unanswered questions.
