I reside in Germantown, in the state of Maryland. My mother is coming to visit me from India, this week. She will stay for 6 months. I was looking at different medical insurances for her and came across Atlas America. But it had a clause which stated "Can not be purchased if visitor is physically not located in the state of Maryland (MD), Washington (WA), or New York (NY)" Does it mean that this insurance is not valid in Maryland? Please let me know as soon as possible so that I can to look for other options quickly as she is travelling in 4 days.
The restriction is that the insured person (your mother) can not be physically located in the state of Maryland at the time of purchase.
Therefore, you should purchase it before she arrives in the US.
Your mother can definitely go to doctors or hospitals in Maryland, once she is here.
