I am planning an overland road trip from Argentina, up through South- and Central-America, then Mexico in to the United States. I am looking for an appropriate health insurance plan that will cover general and unforeseen medical expenses, including accidents that might occur during the overland travel with a motor vehicle. I will be driving a car back to the United States through Argentina, Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Central America and Mexico. I am 28 years old. My home country is the United States, where my address of permanent residence is. Based on some of the plans I have reviewed, some provide coverage for a time once I arrive back in my home country, correct? As I will be unemployed for a spell upon my return to the USA, ideally I would still have some minimal coverage in home country USA. The dates of travel are from 15 January 2017 to 31 May 2017, arriving back to home country mid-late April or early May. Can you please provide me with some guidance regarding medical coverage for these circumstances? Many policies I have viewed on your website seem good, but they are all so similar in many ways that I am having a difficult time navigating the options to determine what best suits the needs of my situation briefly described above.
Thank you for response. Based on the information provided below we would recommend purchasing Safe Travels International Cost Saver plan. This plan will provide coverage anywhere outside of your home country. This will not provide coverage in the United States. We would recommend purchasing a short term domestic insurance plan to cover you while in the U.S. until you are eligible to purchase a Long Term plan. Please use the links below to view plan options available.
