Question:

Effective date question for Atlas America When trying to buy Atlas America series insurance from your website, we are having this problem. We want effective dates to be Aug 13, 2010 through Jan 7, 2011. However, we will be arriving in the USA on July 12, 2010 itself, and already have a different insurance that is already covering us during July 8-Aug 13, 2010 (as we travel from India, visit France, and reach USA on July 12th). Unfortunately, your website makes today (the application date) the default Requested Effective Date, instead of letting us choose August 13 as the Requested Effective Date. Is there a way for you to process our application over the phone, so that we can purchase insurance specifically for Aug 13 2010 to Jan 7 2011? Thanks.

Answer:

Hello, I apologize for the inconvenience. That is the limitation of the insurance company's system and they have promised to fix this in near future. Meanwhile, please visit /atlasamerica-insurance/ , start the application, and put the date of departure from home country as Aug 13, 2010 and let the application go through. After that, send an email to service insubuy.com and mention that your actual date of departure is July 8, 2010.

Some questions 1. The credit card account we'll be using to purchase the insurance has a billing address in USA, whereas Insured's home country is India. Would it be acceptable to the insurance company if we provided the USA mailing address (for Aug 13-Jan 7 stay) and phone for June Roy Ghatak, or does the insurance company want the mailing address to be the permanent address (in India= home country)? 2. Under Destination Countries, do we include countries in which there will be a stopover during the trip (e.g. changing planes in France)? 3. Given that the policy will apply to air travel that's only one-way (USA-India) and not round-trip, whereas the automated price quote assumes round-trip travel (e.g. India-USA-India), do we qualify for a discount on the policy price? Thank you and regards,

1. US mailing address is fine. In fact, that is what most people provide. 2. You don't have to do that. You will still have coverage there. (Destination country is asked mailing for printing a Schengen visa letter) 3. No. You are paying for the insurance for a given duration, in terms of total number of days, irrespective of whether it is one way or two way travel. Please let me know if you have any other questions.
