I chose the plan of Atlas America and I almost bought it !! But the following notice appeared. Please suggest a different insurance company which is registered in CA. CALIFORNIA RESIDENTS SPECIAL NOTICE: 1. THE INSURANCE POLICY THAT YOU ARE APPLYING TO PURCHASE IS BEING ISSUED BY AN INSURER THAT IS NOT LICENSED BY THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA. THESE COMPANIES ARE CALLED "NONADMITTED" OR "SURPLUS LINE" INSURERS. 2. THE INSURER IS NOT SUBJECT TO THE FINANCIAL SOLVENCY REGULATION AND ENFORCEMENT THAT APPLY TO CALIFORNIA LICENSED INSURERS. 3. THE INSURER DOES NOT PARTICIPATE IN ANY OF THE INSURANCE GUARANTEE FUNDS CREATED BY CALIFORNIA LAW. THEREFORE, THESE FUNDS WILL NOT PAY YOUR CLAIMS OR PROTECT YOUR ASSETS IF THE INSURER BECOMES INSOLVENT AND IS UNABLE TO MAKE PAYMENTS AS PROMISED.
This notice is applicable to CA Residents. Your father is not CA Resident but you have entered CA address that's why you got this notice. Please read CA notice FAQ in detail.
If you are still not convinced. You can purchase Patriot America Plus plan which is very similar to Atlas America plan.
Otherwise, you can finish Atlas America application.
