I'm trying to buy insurance for my father whose birthdate is 10/13/1938 (he turns 80 in two weeks) He is visiting the US on 10/20 and will be 80 then. So I put 80 as his age when I requested the quote. However when I fill out the application, it changes his age to 79 even though the start date for the insurance is 10/20. How do I apply correctly?

Answer:

We would be glad to advise. If you are purchasing the plan today, he is 79, not 80.  The date of birth reflects the age at the time of purchase.  You do not need to notate his upcoming age change.
