I'm looking for an insurance package for my friend within his 03 weeks staying in US. Please help to explain more about the claiming policy. As I understand that if an emergency occurs, we have to self-pay first then contact you for later repayment, right? What if my friend leaves the country while the claiming procedure is still processing, can he authorize someone else to do the paperwork and have the money refunded to their account?

Some plans, since they do not have a PPO network, may have to be paid out of pocket and then filed for reimbursement but there are plans that do have a network and in some cases the provider will bill directly.
