We are traveling to Lubumbashi, Dem. Rep. of Congo, for 7 weeks of university teaching on April 17 from Denver (via IAD & ADD), returning arriving Denver June 15 (via ADD & ORD). We have medical insurance coverage, including medical evacuation coverage. Our medical coverage includes $5,000 for flight interruption coverage. We are looking at trip insurance in terms of cancellation of trip or rescheduling the return due to potential flight bans, mandatory quarantines, etc. in the current covid-19 situation. (Congo just began mandatory 14-day quarantines for arriving passengers without symptoms from four European countries today.) Your Safe Travels 3-in1 covers trip cancellation in case we or immediate family members fall ill, but would cover cancellation due to onerous health regulations/mandatory quarantines or an major outbreak of covid-19 at destination?
There is not a trip cancellation insurance plan that would cover the cost of trip cancellation for COVID-19. You would have to be eligible for CFAR in order to cancel for COVID-19.
