Question:

I will be flying to Argentina on January 12th 2020 from Cancun, Mexico and will be boarding a cruise ship to Antarctica (Falkland Islands, South Georgia and Antarctic Peninsula) on January 16th to 31st. I am looking for an emergency evacuation insurance from the cruise ship in case of medical emergency. I believe that evacuation from a ship needs to be done by helicopter. I haven't been able to find the specifics about emergency evacuation in your general conditions. I have followed the Cruise ship insurance link but it seems to bring to a regular travel insurance, without any referral to cruises. Could you please send me detailed info and general conditions of your cruise ship insurance, clearly defining if helicopter evacuation is included? I am an Italian citizen, legally residing in Mexico.

Answer:

Travel medical insurance plans will also provide coverage during a cruise as well as emergency medical evacuation and repatriation. Medical Evacuation is the benefit which provides coverage for transportation charges (including via helicopter) associated with either evacuation to the nearest qualified medical facility or repatriation to the country of residence. You may learn more information regarding this benefit by viewing the certificate wording.

If you are primarily concerned with having the medical coverage we would recommend a plan like the Patriot International. If you would like a plan that includes the medical coverage, but also would like to insure non-refundable your trip cost in the event you are unable to travel due to a covered reason we would suggest the Safe Travels Multinational Trip Protection plan. Please use the links provided below to view the plan details:
