My wife and I are travelling to Schengen Territory in Europe and UK. I am a US citizen and my wife is in US green card. Do we both require travel medical insurance or just my wife who is in Green Card? We are going to Rome Italy first. So applying for Italy visa and their requirement is 30K euro coverage.
It is not a requirement for a U.S. passport holder to have insurance for a trip to the Schengen territories that is less than 90 days . Although, we do recommend purchasing the coverage as our domestic insurance plan often do not cover us abroad. If they do it is more than likely on a reimbursement basis.
There is a plan called Atlas International that will cover both you and your wife for the duration needed and meet the Schengen visa requirements. Although you can both purchase the same plan it is recommended that you purchase separate policies as you have different countries of citizenship.
