Schengen Visa Insurance

Question:

Insurance for Schengen Countries visit Hi We are Singapore Permanent Residents with Indian passports. My son and I plan to travel to Europe on a coach tour using the services of a tour operator in India and we plan to take the trip from Mumbai to Paris, finishing in Holland and taking the ferry to the UK. We have already been given a visa for the UK. The trip starts on April 16th from Singapore and ends on May 26th in Singapore and the itinerary is as follows: SINGAPORE > DELHI > MUMBAI > FRANCE > ITALY > THE VATICAN > AUSTRIA > SWITZERLAND > GERMANY > HOLLAND > UK > DELHI > KOLKATA > SINGAPORE. The requirement of Schengen visa at Embassy of France clearly states: "A letter from your insurance company (+ 1 copy) stating that you will be covered for any medical expenses, hospitalization and repatriation costs incurred for at least S$60,000 during your stay in Europe. If your current insurance company does not provide such a coverage, you have to find an international insurance company that does so (do not forget to ask for the letter mentioned above). WARNING: Failure to provide this document with this exact wording will delay the granting of the visa." Our tour operator in India has already charged us for health insurance but we suspect that the requirements being slightly different in India the above exact requirement of the embassy in Singapore may not have been met. Question 1: Are you in a position to provide such a coverage only for Schengen States for us being residents of Singapore? Question 2: Can you provide a cover letter as required by the French embassy? Question 3: What information is needed to buy the insurance? What documentation would you need from us? Would scan copies of such documentation help? Question 4: Would an air ticket or airline ticket number or reservation number be needed for buying this insurance at this stage? Presently we only have an itinerary. Question 5: What would the broad terms and geographical limits of the coverage be? Question 6: Would the internet signed document and cover letter suffice for embassy purposes or would we need the original? Would appreciate an early response by tonight if possible. Thanks

Answer:

1. We certainly have travel medical insurance that meets all the requirements of Schengen visa. We do a lot of business daily for travelers to Schengen states. In fact, we have a Schengen visa category on our web site. Look at /schengen-visa-insurance/ Particularly, look at Altas International at /atlas-international-insurance/ 2. Yes You can download and print around 15 minutes after the purchase at /travel-and-student-insurance-visa-letter/ 3. No documentations are required. Name, date of birth, passport number, address, phone number, email address, credit card. 4. No 5. It will cover anywhere outside home country (Singapore) and outside the US. More details at /atlas-international/travel-health-insurance/ 6. No, you don't need original. You can download the document signed by the officer from the web site at /travel-and-student-insurance-visa-letter/ Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Great! Just two more questions: 1- In case there is a change of travel dates, will the insurance get adjusted accordingly? 2- What is the scope of the cover? The requirement is S$60,000. We intend applying for the visa on 4th Mar 08 at the Embassy of France in Singapore. So the documents are needed before that.

1. Yes. 2. We sell in US dollars. And US$50,000 meets the requirements. (Original requirement is 30,000 Euros).

And the scope of cover being? eg air travel, hospital, accident...

Medical expenses, evacuation expenses, repatriation of remains expenses etc. Look into the brochure at /atlas-international-insurance/
