I work for a company running a clinical study. We have a subject (3 yrs old) who's family wants them to participate in the study. We only have sites in the US and this child is in Israel. They would come to the US for about 4 months and then return every 3 months for a few days. The entire study lasts 13 months. I need to find insurance to cover the child's standard of care medical needs. The child has an underlying condition of methylmalonic acidemia. We are not trying to find coverage for this just standard of care treatment. Is there an appropriate plan for this situation?
I am not sure what you mean by standard care, however, if they are coming to the U.S. on a B2 medical visa, we have plans that can cover them for new illnesses and new injuries that occur or manifest after the effective date. They can also include benefits for Covid-19 for any medically necessary testing or treatment.
The plans would not cover anything related to the current pre-existing condition, or any other pre-existing conditions, routine maintenance, or preventative care.
The plans available would depend on the state to which they will be coming to.
