International Student Insurance

Question:

My son who is on a F1 visa is currently covered by his college group insurance policy (CDPHP). He graduates in May 2022 and there is a likelihood that he might get an admission to a Masters program. However there could be a gap between his graduating and him attending a Masters program. We would like to cover him for the interim as he might spend time in the US. Also he has a pre-existing condition that was discovered in 2019 but is under control now with medication. If we opt for a new insurance will the pre-existing condition clause be waived or will he to wait for the 6 months in some cases and even after that will the coverage be limited to a specific amount?

Answer:

This is dependent on the plan that you are selecting. Most of the plans will exclude the coverage for pre-existing conditions, but some could offer some sort of coverage after a waiting period. You may view and quote plans in the International Student Insurance section of our website. Once there, please enter the applicable details and review the certificate wording of the policies for full information on benefits.
