International Student Insurance

Question:

insurance eligibility F2 Currently I am full time student in US . And I have blue cross blue shield insurance plan through university. Now I want to take Study USA healthcare insurance for my wife. My wife is in F-2 visa. Does she is eligible for this health insurance plan? Could you recommend me any other affordable insurance plan?

Answer:

Thank you for your interest in purchasing insurance through us. The Study USA plan would not cover an F2 alone. It would only cover an F2 if the F1 is also insured under the same plan. Before recommending a plan I will need additional information. When does your wife arrive in the US and what state will she be staying in? If you need additional assistance please feel free to contact our office.

Hello, Thank you for your reply. My wife arrived in USA on June 13. We are from Massachusetts. Now could you suggest me some insurance plan which has less deductible.

Before we suggest any plan would like to know what kind of insurance she is having for last 9 months and how long do you need coverage for her? Insurance will not pay for any pre-existing ,preventive care or maternity etc. Once we get answer from you will suggest some plan.

For now, she has ISO health insurance and it is ending very soon.. And we want insurance for longer time. We want the plan which cover the maternity as well.

You can’t purchase insurance only for F2 visa holder which covers maternity. F1 and F2 needs to have the same insurance. So you have two options. Either both of you have same insurance from school or from us. There is no insurance for F2 visa alone which covers maternity. She doesn’t have social security number so she can’t purchase domestic long term insurance also. Please let us know if you want us to send some plan information without maternity or insurance for F1 and F2 together.

Thank you for your kind response. She is in F-2 visa but still she has SSN. She has a work permit through TPS . Does this help?

In that case, she can have long term plan but she missed the open enrollment period for this year. So she needs to enroll in next season that is next year. Meantime, she can purchase Patriot America plan but it will not cover maternity. Or short term domestic plan. None of the short term plans are PPACA compliant plan. Patriot America brochure, instant purchase and other useful information, /patriot-america-lite-insurance/ Short term domestic plan information, /short-term-health-insurance/ Please enter appropriate criteria. You will find many plans and you can also compare them side by side. If you have any further questions feel free to contact us.
