I am a student on an F1 visa at the UCLA extension program and am looking to purchase an insurance plan for 1 year. I was looking at the student secure smart and exchange guard choice and had a few questions on the same. 1) Would it waive my school requirement for a plan? Requirements are - the insurance plan just needs to be from a US-based insurance company. 2) What does PPO mean? 3) Are immunizations and preventive check-ups covered in either of these plans? 4) Are x rays, MRI covered in these plans? 5) Getting an STD test covered? 6) Local ambulance covered? If not what would the average cost be and how can I add that for safety?
Based on this waiver criteria, it looks like there are no plans you can purchase outside of the one they offer that will meet their requirements so you may need to confirm with them if these are the requirements based on your situation.
