J1 visitor insurance needed I am a J1 visitor currently doing research at UIC in Chicago. I searched through your website and was wondering if I can purchase other plans like Safe Travels USA Cost Saver for visitors to USA, or I must choose from those 4 plans specified for J1/J2 visas?

Please shop within the specified J1/J2 Exchange Visitors section as the plans will meet the standard J1 visa requirements set by the Department of state. If your University has additional requirements please review plan benefits to ensure that all requirements are met. Thank you for your quick response. These are my university requirements: 1) Medical benefits of at least $100,000 per accident or illness; 2) Repatriation of remains in the amount of $25,000; 3) Expenses associated with medical evacuation of the exchange visitor to his/her home country in the amount of $50,000; 4) A deductible that does not exceed $500 per accident or illness. I take a look at “safe travels USA cost saver” plan and it seems it covers all the requirements: Deductible : 250$ Policy max: 100,000$ Emergency Evacuation: 2,000,000$ Emergency Reunion:15,000$ Repatriation of remains: 1M $ As you might guess, I am looking for the best option with lowest monthly cost (preferring comprehensive plans) and this plans seems a good deal for me. Please let me know if I can apply for this plan and if the answer is No, help me with the best options I have. I might consider good dental coverage as well.
The safe travels plan is not a J visa insurance plan so you are not eligible to purchase this options. You will need to shop only within the J1/J2 Exchange Visitor’s Insurance plans.
