General Information

Salisbury University (SU) is a public university founded in 1925. Originally known as the Maryland State Normal School, it had 105 students in its first class. It became a university in the late 1980s and donned its current name in 2001.

Today, the university campus consists of more than 180 acres (about 73 hectares). There are 75 buildings with a total gross area of more than two million square feet (about 185,800 square meters).

SU has one of the highest graduation rates in the University System of Maryland. The university’s unique “Town and Gown” initiative helps foster camaraderie between the students and the residents of Salisbury so that they can jointly work for the betterment of the community.
