Ramapo College Of New Jersey International Student Insurance

Ramapo College of New Jersey, located in Mahwah, New Jersey, was established in 1969. In 1968, the New Jersey Department of Higher Education authorized the establishment of a state school to serve the increasing population and suburbanization within Bergen County. After much deliberation and many board meetings, the college was placed at the site of the Birch Estate near Route 17. The estate (and the roughly 1,000 acres of land on which it sits) were the former property of Theodore Havemeyer, a founder of the American Sugar Refining Company. Upon construction of the college, the Havemeyer mansion became the president’s house, and the nearby Birch mansion was used as the administration building.

Today, Ramapo College enrolls more than 6,000 students and counting each year. The school’s colors are maroon and white, and its athletic nickname is the roadrunner.
