The climate in Phoenix, Arizona is typically warm, but can get very hot in the summer months. The city has been ranked as the second warmest city in the U.S. by the World Atlas website.
The Greater Phoenix area is popular for its many parks and preserves that offer biking, hiking and stargazing opportunities. Students should avoid engaging in these activities during midday, particularly during the summer, as doing so could result in greater chances of a heat-related illness. They should also dress appropriately and carry plenty of water for outdoor excursions.
The costs of treating medical issues or injuries can be very high, so it’s important for students to have a health insurance policy that meets their requirements. Health insurance is an essential tool to protect your finances from the high cost of medical care in the United States.
Phoenix College states that health insurance is mandatory for all full-time enrolled international students.
Even if you have no health issues, going without medical insurance while studying in the U.S. is too risky. Even a minor injury or illness could result in a medical bill you cannot afford to pay if you don’t have health insurance coverage. Get the required coverage before classes start to protect your finances.
Search and compare different health insurance policies online to find one that provides the necessary coverage, and meets any requirements set by the college or your visa status. Don’t forget to also research coverage for any dependents who will be with you during your time at Phoenix College.
