Concordia University Texas states that due to the university policy, all international students on non-immigrant visas (F-1/F-2, J-1/J-2) are required to purchase the school’s offered health insurance while at the university. Students are able to waive this requirement if proof of an alternative plan that meets the school’s requirements is provided. The university does not state any specification for accompanying dependents, therefore F-2 dependents can select any plan shown in the student (F1/F2) section. It is recommended to contact the ISSO to verify the health insurance requirements prior to purchase, as detailed information may only be provided to the attendee

There is no given information pertaining to international students on J-1 visa, however, they are required obtain and maintain health insurance for the full duration of their stay as per the federal mandates issued by the  Department of State for themselves and their dependents. The J-2 dependents may not have mandates from the school, however the Department of State does say that J-1 students are required to obtain and maintain the federal limits for the duration of their stay in the U.S, the plans shown in the Exchange Visitor (J-1/J-2) section do meet the requirements. Although, J-2 international student dependents may not have mandates from the school, the Department of State does state they are required to obtain and maintain the federal limits for the duration of their stay in the U.S. The plans shown in the Exchange Visitor (J-1/J-2) section do meet the all the minimum limits of coverage. It is recommended to contact the ISSO to verify the health insurance requirements prior to purchase, as detailed information may only be provided to the attendee.
