IMG Fixed coverage plan Hi My parents are coming here shortly and planning to stay with me for 6 months. Both of them have a decent health with no existing health problems. I am looking at buying the IMG fixed coverage plans and went through the brochure. I have a few queries that I need your advise. 1. It says an amount $x per coverage of period. Example: Prescription drugs $250 per period of coverage. Physician visits $55 per visit, 10 visits per period of coverage. What is this period of coverage ? If I take insurance for 6 months, is the entire 6 months considered as 1 period of coverage ? If 6 months is considered as 1 period, then would it make sense to buy it for 1 month and then renew it every month ? 2. Lets say I opt for a deductible of $100. I meet the doctor and do a lab test and buy prescription drugs as recommended by the doctor. Is the deductible $100 for all three(Doctor, test & drug) or should I pay deductible $100 for each of them ? 3. I understand from the website that IMG participates in the First Health PPO Network. Will I get the discounted rate for the fixed coverage plans also ? Thanks in Advance.
1. Period of coverage is for however long you buy the insurance and pay for it upfront. If you buy for 6 months, period of coverage is 6 months. If you buy for 1 month and renew every month, period of coverage is 1 month every time. Those coverages you mention are per period of coverage. However, the deductible is also per period of coverage. Therefore, to maintain the balance, you should purchase for 3 months and then renew for 3 months. 2. Deductible is once for everything. That means, you don't have to pay separate deductible for different things. 3. Yes.
