Question:

Deciding between Patriot and Protection America I am looking to buy comprehensive insurance for my mother-in-law who will be visiting the US for 6 months. I am comparing Patriot and Protection America. In terms of coverage, I don't see any differences. After browsing the forums, the only difference I see is the renewal policy. The Patriot price is approx $200 less for the same coinsurance/deductible/policy maximum. - Is there any reason apart from the renewal policy to prefer Protection America? - For the six month period, I could initially choose a 3-month period and then renew it once for the remainder. This would allow me to split the insurance cost into two installments without any exclusions. Is this a correct assumption? - I noticed that you ask for a "state" while giving the quote. My mother-in-law will stay with me in Oregon for the first 3 months and in California for the next 3 months. Does this matter in terms of the policy? I would appreciate your guidance. Regards. Ashutosh

Answer:

1. Other than renewal rule, no other difference currently. 2. That is correct. 3. State is asked primarily for Americans going abroad. In your case, the person is a tourist to USA. Therefore, Oregon or California does not matter. It will cover in both the places.
