Medical insurance for pilots Hi, I’m travelling to the USA for 1 year to train as a flying instructor. I notice your standard policy exclusion does not cover for travel in an aircraft except for an aircraft licenced for transportation of passengers. As I will be training in and then instructing in light aircraft, I will need cover for this included. Do you have a policy, or can you recommend a policy that will provide the cover I need? What kind of coverage do you need? If you get sick or injured while you are on the ground? Please clarify.
Hi, I need medical insurance that covers all the normal hospitalization for sickness or injury but that does not exclude any injury sustained whilst in an aircraft. E.g. student lands badly or engine fails and we have to land in a field and I break a leg doing so. So I will need all the normal cover for when I'm on the ground as well as cover in the aircraft. We have a plan called Atlas America that covers students while in flight . You have to choose the Sports Rider to cover that. /atlasamerica-insurance/ Please contact us if you need further assistance.

I just confirmed with Underwriting dept.that you will not be eligible for Atlas America plan. We sell that to student but instructor is not eligible for that plan because you get compensation from school. You can ask the school because most of the school has workers compensation insurance that should cover you. You can purchase the medical insurance but it will not cover you while you are at work.
Hi again, Further to my email below, I can confirm that we are students (student instructors) for the duration of our stay in the USA and that as we are travelling on an M1 visa, we are not employed and not eligible for any employers insurance. Please can you confirm that the underwriters are able to cover me on this basis, and what discount can be offered for the purhase of 6 policies together. Kind regards,
Here is the reply from the underwriter: >>>> This client would have no issue obtaining coverage as long as they are not gaining any wage, reward or profit from the school throughout their program. As long as they can attest that this is the case, we can issue an Atlas America policy with the hazardous sports rider. >>>> If that is applicable to you, you can buy Atlas America, available at /atlasamerica-insurance/

There is no discount.This premium is fixed and it's regulated by govt. You can do either group application or individual application. If you do group application your premium will be little bit lower.
