Question:

'MULTINATIONAL ACCIDENT PLAN' FOR Crew Members Dear Team, Can I use 'MULTINATIONAL ACCIDENT PLAN' FOR Crew Members travelling on ship. And is there any negotiation on premium. Thanks and regards

Answer:

You can't really use the MAP plan for crew members unless there is a country that you can point to as their main station. However, if they travel mostly to the US, you can put the US as their destination and write the plan that way. Premium is non-negotiable.

There would be appx 100 crew travelling over a period of 01 year. However their port of exit can be determined. We can provide you with their route of travel. The most important part is whether you cover while they are on ship for a period of 7-8 months. Thanks and regards,

The Master Policy includes a definition for Accident/Accidental that states: (a)exposure to the elements resulting from a mishap to a conveyance in which the member is traveling. There is no exclusion for work related injuries. Therefore, it would seem that the only time the member is not covered while on board would be when they are in their Home Country waters. I hope this answers your question. If you have any other doubts or questions, please contact me. Thank you! Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Sorry for the delayed reply, Is it possible to issue this policy as worldwide cover except for his home country. Since most of the time the crews will be on International Waters. Thanks and regards,

I am sorry that I have not gotten back to you on this inquiry until now. Technically the MAP policy is a worldwide policy. The applicant must simply state which countries they know they will be visiting during the course of the trip at the time of application. What I would recommend that the client do is to highlight all of the countries they are certain they will be traveling to in the MAP quoting tool and obtain a quote that way. Technically there wouldn't be exclusions for any countries for which they were not aware they would be traveling to at the time of the application. That is with the exception of the countries excluded by the Office of Foreign Assets Control which include: Angola, Burma, Iran, Iraq, Ivory Coast, Liberia, Libya, Myanmar, North Korea, Sierra Leone, Sudan, Syria and Zimbabwe. I hope this helps. Please contact me if you have any other questions or if there is anything else I can do for you.
