Expatriate Health Insurance

Question:

moving to Cambodia, policy questions I was looking at Reside for insurance for myself and my husband when we move to Cambodia in 2 weeks time. I just don't understand what $250 deductable actually means, and how one gets refunded for paying doctor's fees etc. Also how does it work with prenotifying the company if we are in an emergency situation.

Answer:

Thank you for your interest in purchasing Reside insurance for your family. 1. $250 deductible - That is the amount that you will have to pay first, once a year, before insurance company starts paying anything at all. You will not get that $250 back. It is similar to the deductible in car insurance. 2. You get the health insurance card and claim form in the mail once you purchase the insurance. You can present the insurance card to the provider and if they are willing to bill directly, that is good. Otherwise, you can pay first and then fill the claim form along with the receipts and mail it to the insurance company's address provided in the claim form. You will get reimbursed in 2-4 weeks. 3. If you are an in emergency, you don't have to notify first before getting the treatment. You can notify the insurance company within 48 hours. However, you have non-emergency scheduled surgery or major treatment, you can notify the insurance company in advance. I hope that answers all your questions.
