Question:

Pre-existing conditions waiver Hi, We're flying to Australia on frequent flyer miles booked months ago. There was a refundable booking fee of $92. We've just started to purchase hotel etc. within the last week. Are we eligible to waive pre-exisiting medical conditions? The trip begins 4/4/06 and ends 4/27/06.

Answer:

Thank you for your interest in purchasing trip cancellation insurance. Look at CSA plan at /trip-cancellation-insurance/ You can compare various products at /trip-cancellation-insurance/ All of them cover pre-existing conditions as long as you buy the insurance within 24 hours of FINAL trip deposit. Please let me know if you have any other quesitons.

Can you please explain 24 hours FINAL trip deposit. We are buying hotels, tours, etc. individually. Do you mean when we don't add anything to our itinerary and we consider ourselves booked for everything we're doing?

In other words, you can buy the insurance any time before FINAL trip deposit or within 24 hours after that. If you know you are not going to add anything after some point, you should buy insurance latest within 24 hours of final trip deposit. Of course, you can continue to make more trip deposits as well after buying the deposit. Just that you can't make the final deposit, wait for 1 week, then buy the insurance.

One more question, thank you for your patience and help! I want medical insurance included in my plan. If I purchase one of the plans below right now, and continue to finalize my trip for the next week (we've paid some money for it already, more to buy), and I go to Australia and need medical help for something for a medical condition that I had treatment for within the last 180 days, the medical treatment would be covered? And if the trip were interrupted because of this medical condition, it would be covered? Thank you

Yes, medical is included in the insurance coverage as well. Please look into the individual brochures for the exact limits.
