I am interested in purchasing international major medical insurance and have a few questions about the it. I recently got approved for F-1 OPT and am finding a new health insurance. My questions are: Does the insurance cover birth control pills? Also, I currently have student insurance that covers contraception, and the monthly prescription is effective through July 2020. But my doctor's name is not listed on the First Health PPO network. If your insurance covers the contraception, then do I need to find a new doctor listed on the PPO network and get a new prescription?
We do not have a plan that will cover birth control pills.
The plans that cover preventative care, routine maintenance, and pre-existing conditions and do not have restrictions on coverage in general would be domestic insurance plans. The only way an F1 visa holder can obtain that type of coverage is either through their university, or their employer if on OPT.
