The Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS)—which was developed by the PCI Security Standards Council (PCI SSC) created by Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, and JCB—is an extensive set of technical and operational standards that a company needs to follow to ensure that all companies that process, store, or transmit credit card information maintain a secure environment.
There are many stringent requirements, including but not limited to:
PCI DSS has six major objectives, 12 key requirements, 78 base requirements, and over 400 test procedures. Click here for more information.
When a business is PCI-compliant, it means that that the business reviews and follows the guidelines set forth by the credit card companies to help ensure your credit card information is protected and your personal information is secure.
The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has confirmed that the US is ending the requirement for international travelers from China to provide a negative COVID-19 test result before traveling to the United States per a report from Reuters. The end of the testing requirement is said to take effect March 10.
With the end of the COVID testing rule, those flying to the USA from China will only be required to show proof of full COVID-19 vaccination; the same rule that applies to all noncitizens and non-nationals seeking to enter the country.
On January 5, the United States government instituted the rule mandating anyone flying to the US from China show a negative COVID test prior to travel to help offset increased levels of infection in China after the country ended its zero-COVID policy in December. The end of the rule likely comes as US officials are less concerned about the spread of the virus from incoming travelers.
The USA has no insurance requirement for foreign tourists, business travelers, or international students, such as those on a B2, B1, or F1 visa. Only exchange visitors on a J1 or J2 visa are required by the US Department of State to have compliant insurance while in the United States.
However, just because insurance is not required does not mean you shouldn’t have it. Medical costs in the US are among the highest in the world. If you get sick or injured and need medical treatment, the cost could be more than you can afford if you do not have insurance. And it is unlikely that the domestic health insurance from your home country will be accepted in the United States.
Therefore, all visitors to the USA should purchase visitors medical insurance. A visitors medical insurance plan is specifically designed to provide coverage for new medical conditions while on a trip outside your home country to the United States. It can allow you to get necessary care for a predicable price, and could save you from serious financial difficulty.
Since no one can avoid every possibility of getting sick or hurt abroad, the next best thing is to have an insurance plan that can protect you in case it happens. Visitors medical insurance can do that.
