The origins of Truman State University (TSU) go back to 1867, when it began as the North Missouri Normal School and Commercial College. An education pioneer, Joseph Baldwin was instrumental in establishing the school. In 1919, it became Northeast Missouri State Teachers College. It achieved university status in 1972 and was christened Truman State University in 1996 (in honor of U.S. President Harry Truman).
The university has consistently found itself among the highest-ranked institutions in the country thanks to its top-quality and affordable education. TSU has a student/faculty ratio of 16:1, and 97% of classes have a student count of less than 40. Hence, faculty members can provide much-needed individual attention to the students.
TSU focuses on experiential and research-based learning methodologies. The liberal arts and sciences education that it provides prepares the foundation for their students to build rewarding careers. The aim of the university is not only to build successful professionals, but also dedicated community leaders.
Among other distinctions, TSU has been named as the “10th Best Masters University in the Nation.”
With close to 40 majors and more than 60 minors, TSU provides a wide range of programs for students at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. It offers programs in the fields of education, business & finance, media & communication, science & technology, and many more.

Expenses for medical treatment in the U.S. are pretty high. That alone makes health insurance for students studying abroad a worthwhile investment. But even more importantly, it’s a rule of the university that F-1/F-2 and J-1/J-2 visa holders must have health insurance when they arrive on campus.
Yes, they need to have health insurance. It is a mandate from both the university and the U.S. Department of State to have health insurance coverage.
There is no way to foretell when you might need medical care. But in the U.S., when you do need it, it could burn a hole in your pocket unless you have proper insurance coverage. Health insurance can protect you from incurring such heavy expenses.
