The University of Texas System Board of Regents created The University of Texas Health Science Center (UTHealth) in 1972. It is a public academic health science center that is located in the Texas Medical Center – the world’s largest medical center.
UTHealth is among the most extensive academic health centers in the entire UT System and the US Gulf Coast. The institute aims to keep on improving healthcare through continuous innovation and research in the related fields. UTHealth has a mission to create and establish the best practices in public health and clinical care.
The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges has accredited UTHealth to award certificate, baccalaureate, masters, doctorate and special professional degrees.
The six schools, institutes, centers, clinics and the hospital partners of UTHealth have one, single aim – to equip the students with in-depth, practical skills that will enable them to become the leading healthcare providers of the future. UTHealth provides education to more than 5,000 healthcare professionals every year – the largest institution in Texas.
The six schools of the university are:
SON, GSBS, SBMI, and SPH offer the facilitation of doctoral programs. Several dual degree programs are also available.
The largest city in Texas and the 4th largest in the US, Houston has a very pronounced cosmopolitan identity.
If you are heading to one of the many amusement parks, you face the risk of physical injuries. Be it from riding the Ferris wheel or getting accidentally bumped by a ride. The same goes for water parks. Drowning or sustained injuries from a broken or unhinged ride can require a hospital trip. While you are out on a camping or hiking trip, take the necessary precautions against physical injuries, bug bites and hostile wildlife.
Health insurance for students studying abroad is something that should be purchased without fail. Expenses for medical treatment in a foreign country, especially the US, are quite high. The insurance coverage will help you financially if and when you need medical care. UTHealth rules state that it is required for every F1/F2 and J1/J2 visa holder to have health insurance coverage.
It’s mandatory for international students to have health insurance before they can join the university. Additionally, international students must have coverage for medical evacuation and repatriation.
International students are required to have coverage under an approved health insurance plan in order to attend UTHealth. You can purchase through the school, or find another health insurance plan that covers medical evacuation and repatriation. Often, domestic insurance plans do not offer medical evacuation and repatriation, so it is important to find a plan that does cover this.
Please make sure that you understand the benefits and coverage that your plan will offer. Also keep in mind that healthcare in the US is very expensive, so you will need to find a plan that can cover those large expenses.
