Texas Wesleyan University International Student Insurance Requirements

International Students

All international students attending Texas Wesleyan University are required to have health insurance, and will automatically be enrolled and billed for the school’s Student Health Insurance Program (SHIP) unless proof of comparable insurance is received by the corresponding deadline. Eligible dependents can also be voluntarily enrolled in the SHIP, so long as coverage is for an equal time period as the student’s coverage. Those with an F-2 visa can also select any plan in the Student (F-1/F-2) section of the website. J-2 visa holders must select a plan that meets all minimum limits required by the Department of State. All plans under the Exchange Visitor (J-1/J-2) section will meet the requirements mandated by the Department of State. It is recommended to contact the International Admission Office to verify the health insurance requirements prior to purchase, as detailed information may only be provided to the attendee.

Exchange Visitors

Texas Wesleyan University does not cite specific insurance requirements for J-1 Exchange Visitors, Visiting Scholars, or their dependents. However, these individuals are required to have insurance meeting all mandates set by the Department of State for the duration of their stay/program in the U.S. All plans under the Exchange Visitor (J-1/J-2) section will meet the requirements mandated by the Department of State.
